One Day In 1996 . . .
|Just as their careers were taking off, a group of young executives at a bond investment boutique faced a difficult decision. Their firm was being acquired and they had to choose between the short-term benefits of joining the new entity or branching out on their own.
Opting for the more uncertain path, they resigned. The following day, August 1, 1996, they formed Metropolitan West Asset Management, or MetWest.
Having worked together for years, they knew that they had something special: a unique team dynamic and a shared set of investment philosophies. Moreover, they envisioned a firm that brought together an appreciation for value-oriented, bottom-up fixed income investing grounded in sensible risk management practices, client service that put a premium on accessibility, and an atmosphere within the firm that prized intellectual curiosity and collaborative thinking.
By staying true to these principles, they felt they could build a premier fixed income investment firm and deliver more value to their clients.
Today, MetWest continues to build on that founding vision.
